yesterday noon me and my friend planned to go to the forest near my house, because my uncle once said “did you know that if you go through the forest long enough you will find a cliff, and there you will find a tree with the branches of golden called the golden bough”
We then pack our bags and went into the forest , we climbed and climbed all the way though the lush green forest , on the way through the forest my friend Vaz found a beautiful lake with clear water and beautiful hydrangeas on top of it.
We stopped by the lake and decided to take a break and talk. “hey do you think the golden boughs really exist?” asked Vaz, “who knows honestly, the only way we’re going to find out is to go out and find it”. l then place my gaze on the lake and suddenly felt dizzy and nauseous, i felt like i had forgotten something important. “hey, you okay you seem pale, shall we just go back?” Vaz asked, he was a good friend of mine always so caring but also honest and just overall a bright and nice person to talk to. “no its fine, i think its just some headache” “well if you say so”.
when we were about to leave i felt a hand reaching to me from the back i turned quickly and nothing was there,Vaz was already waiting for me on the path he looked pretty concerned, i had to reassured him i was okay a few times.
We continued our walk to the top while we were greeted by the beautiful sites of the forest, then finally we almost reached the top of the cliff, it was almost dark but we saw a glow in the distance at the top. At the cliff was beautiful there was a purple like tree surrounded by a lake of hydrangeas and the moon was a full moon and was shining brightly that night, the tree was shaped like a half moon that fit perfectly with the full moon, the leaves dropped at a stone tomb below that was covered in leaves and hydrangeas. “the sight is very pretty but where is the golden boughs, did your uncle lie to us” Vaz said, “hah i dont know honestly” i said while i looked into the distance, i thought i had forgotten something but i cant seem to remember clearly.
Suddenly i hear footsteps from behind i looked to were the footsteps were and surprisingly found my uncle coming here and behind my uncle was Vaz?, huh then i called to my uncle “hey uncle, why are you here?” i got no response
i called out to Vaz too but also got no responses, then i silently looked at them while they walked
closer to the stone tomb in the middle. then i felt a hand on my back just like in the lake, i turned around and saw Vaz? smiling while he stared right into me he said “look closely at the tomb”,
i crouched down and slowly looked at the direction where Vaz? and my uncle were sitting at.
i knew the answer deep down but i just couldn’t accept the fact, and as i expected in the tomb i saw my name written on it my memory was fuzzy but i finally remembered what happened. I sighed and looked at Vaz? wait huh what i saw behind me was myself. i looked at it as it smiled to me i began to ask unanswered questions to the thing.
“Hey one question why were you Vaz and why are you me now?” the thing slowly looked up and then looked at me with a soft smile “i am a living regret, Vaz couldn’t let go of you so i am a form of that regret and desire to have you back, and now i am you because you couldn’t accept your fate and you probably have regrets, my existence is prove that theres things left unsaid for you or Vaz and your uncle would not find peace before i am truly gone” ah i see i began reminiscing while i looked at my own tomb it was beautiful and my favorite flowers hydrangeas were all around it, i could almost smile at the sight of it i took one last look and for all the regret of my life and the things i loved and cherish, i bowed my head and said my final goodbye ‘Vaz,uncle thank you for everything and i love you both, Farewell, may we meet again someday’
I looked at uncle and Vaz’s faces they seem to look at peace, but behind me i still saw Vaz? but he seems to be fading away “your friend, i dont think he will ever truly move on but atleast he will finally be at peace and accept your fate”, i walked away while i heard Vaz? said something but the thing already faded away, then i looked around and at the bottom of the cliff i saw beautiful lakes of hydrangeas i smiled for the last time, closed my eyes and jumped into the lake of hydrangeas, as i jumped the branches of the trees were sparkling in golden Vaz and my uncle looked at it with awe, the golden bough spread across and surrounded the trees in the forest.-End-
